Black BreamThe Specimen Angling Group of Plymouth was founded in 1970 and is still going strong after more than 37 years. As a Group we are dedicated to the furtherance of sea angling as a sport, in Plymouth and the South West.

As the name suggests the Group is primarily focussed on catching specimen sized fish. Whilst we are based in Plymouth, our members travel far and wide in search of their quarry each year, with Ireland and the Channel Islands being popular destinations.

The Group is a small friendly sea angling club and is affiliated to the NFSA and included in the Wyvern Division. All our members are encouraged to be Individual NFSA members too. The Group is very conservation minded and we positively encourage and operate a catch and release policy wherever possible.

Over the years Group members have held several British Records. One of the most notable that is still standing is the shore caught Ling of 21lb 10oz taken by Kevin Smith in 1994.

PlaiceWe have a superb range of trophies to be won each year, but winning them is not easy. A glance at our specimen weight list, which are our minimum sizes, will give you some idea of the standards set within the Group.

Membership numbers currently stand at around 35. There are a few conditions to becoming a member of the Group, but if you are interested in joining, please use the "Contact Us" link on the left to request further information.
